Author Guidelines

Formatting your manuscript for submission:

The text should be single spaced in 12pt arial font with 16pt bold arial for first heading, 14pt arial bold italic for the second level headings, and 12pt font bold for the third level headings. Text should be justified on the left, with a hard return between paragraphs.

Authors are asked to use standard MLA style for all types of submissions. Works Cited should be single spaced, and book or journal names should be italicized.

Please see MLA Style Guide for assistance.

Examples of proper MLA citations:

Bertin, Jacques. “Matrix Theory of Graphics.” Information Design Journal. 10.1, (2000/2001): 5-19. Print.

Frascara, Jorge. “Introduction: Creating Communicational Spaces.” Designing Effective Communications: Creating Contexts for Clarity and Meaning. Ed. Jorge Frascara. NY: Allworth Press, 2006. xiii-xxi. Print.

Office of Foreign Assets Control, United States Department of the Treasury. 31 August, 2006. Web.

SPIE Digital Library Multi-Site License Agreement, USCD Libraries Acquisitions Department, 31 August 2006. Web.

The section editors are responsible for final decisions regarding publication and reserve the right to edit for brevity, clarity and consistency of style.

A final decision to publish or not is decided by the appropriate section editor. For sections: Theory and Research and Innovations in Practice the decision is made based on recommendations from a double blind peer review process. The aim is to have papers reviewed within 2 months of receipt.

Article submissions should include:

• Names and full contact information for all authors
• Abstract (250-500 words)
• Keywords (3-6)

  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
