About SURG
Studies by Undergraduate Researchers at Guelph, or SURG (pronounced "surge"), is a refereed, multi-disciplinary electronic journal devoted to publishing high-quality research articles authored by undergraduate students at the University of Guelph. Developed through a collaboration between the Office of Research and the McLaughlin Library, SURG is an open-access journal, freely accessible to anyone with Internet access.
SURG aims to provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to share their research, and to acquaint themselves with the academic publishing process. To this end, the journal welcomes original research and review articles (often the fruits of fourth-year theses or summer research projects) from all disciplines represented at the University of Guelph.

About Undergraduate Journals
Undergraduate research journals (search) have been developed to involve undergraduates in the academic publication process and provide them with a means to publish work that might not meet the requirements of mainstream academic journals. Undergraduates are involved at all levels, as editors, reviewers, authors, and readers. A unique feature of many undergraduate journals is their multi- disciplinary nature. Few other journals provide readers with the opportunity to learn about subjects ranging from art history to zoology. SURG supports this ideal, and the journal will reflect the diversity of scholarship taking place at the University of Guelph.
